Snowy Sunday

It is not very often that we get snow here in the Northwest but over the past few days our town of Bonney Lake and all of the surrounding area, has become a winter wonderland. We were hit last Sunday by a small amount of snow and ice. Naturally, everyone paniced and our church meeting were cancelled. We were left to a very rare pajama Sunday at home on the couch just relaxing (darn! :) ). Usually when we have such a day, the snow quickly turns to rain and is gone in a day or so. That was not the case this week. The temperatures have remained very cold and the crummy weather has stuck around. Yesterday the prediction was 100% chance of 6 - 12 inches of snow and winds of up to 90mph. Our family took advantage of a break in the weather to sneak out and try to finish our Christmas shopping, prepare for the storm, and do the usual Saturday thing of visiting with family. We were able to get out and get what we needed but the storm began to hit around 3pm just as we were leaving Costco. We had heard nightmare stories of people taking 5+ hours to get home between Kent and Bonney Lake so we decided that rather than going to visit dad and risk getting stuck, that we would head home (sorry dad!). The roads were starting to get bad but we were able to beat the peak of the storm and we traveled home safe and sound. The storm did come but it was not nearly as bad as predicted. We did have snow. Probably about 6 inches. The winds blew but it was more just blowing the snow around rather than toppling trees and we did not lose our electricity. The best news of all was that church was once again cancelled and today we get to enjoy another pajama Sunday here at home. The kids headed out to the sledding hill early and are having a ball. They start at the top of the hill and sled all the way into our cul-de-sac. So fun! Here are some pictures of our neighborhood.

Bella doing her thing. She can not get enough of the snow! Loves it!

The forecast for next week. More snow and temperatures in the mid-30's. That sounds down right balmy right about now!
